In honor of Modernism Week, Palm Spring’s celebration of all things mid-century modern, I pulled together a few Pinterest favorites to create this MCM heaven.
What better place to host such an event? Palm Springs is a mid-century modern mecca, representing the whole movement from architecture to furniture design, and everything in between. I will never forget the first time I visited, back in 2004. It was somewhat of an aha! moment for me as I had always been drawn to this style, but didn’t really know why until that particular trip. Nor did I have any idea as to how much this modern aesthetic would influence my taste as a designer today.
There seems to be a touch of mid-century mod in all of my SPACE posts and it feels like I’m always trying to weave more MCM pieces into my home. I usually appreciate a little bit of mix and match with most interior styles, but these simple shapes just have a way of speaking to me. They’re classic and will be forever cool in my book.
I mean really, wouldn’t this desert oasis be the perfect weekend getaway? Just look at those bright, open spaces and funky pops of color! The vaulted ceilings with full-length windows, just inviting that desert sun to come on in. And how can you not love the furniture’s clean lines and organic silhouettes? Each piece is pure art to me, designed with both form and function in mind. Well worth the investment.
Unfortunately though, I am not in Palm Springs at this very moment, sipping cool beverages poolside, soaking in all that mid-century modern magic. But I will be come July – bachelorette weekend plans are in the works! We’re hoping to snag the same place we stayed at last summer, or at least something close to it.
It’s ok to be a little jealous ;)
