Before officially moving to the west coast, I had always dreamed of Southern California in this faded sunny light. I imagined everything in that vintage polaroid kind of setting, like a fuzzy memory from another era. Most likely the 70’s.
This retro vibe of mid-century mod combined with earthy decor, like macrame seems to be alive and well here. It’s a bit weathered, but still appealing in some nostalgic way. It reminds me of my mom’s high school year book, which is full of groovy people and places that would fit in perfectly with a setting like this.
When I finally set foot on this famously laidback land, I realized that my fantasy vision wasn’t that far off. Of course I’ve grown accustomed to the year-round golden tones, but my honeymoon affair with SoCal shabby chicness is definitely not over yet.
