The entryway of my humble abode is a far cry from these freshly styled foyers, but I like to think that I’d be able to pull something fabulous together if I actually had the space. Someday…
This pocket of square footage may seem unimportant to some, but it’s actually prime real estate. It’s the first thing you see when you walk into a home or office – basically anywhere that has four walls and a ceiling. A foyer should greet you, welcome you, invite you in to take your coat off and stay a while. Like a first impression, it sets the tone for the rest of the place.
I especially appreciate entryways that feel like they’ve just been waiting for you to come home all day. The ones that have nice lighting and a perfect side table, in which to toss the mail. I also love those brilliant hooks, hanging right by the door (these have seriously changed my life and saved me hours of searching for my keys). A mirror somewhere in the vicinity also helps as you’re rushing out.
Whether it be in terms of functionality or aesthetics, a foyer should never be overlooked, period. Now tell me, does your entryway need any love these days?
