Today, we’re chatting with someone whom I greatly admire (and may be a bit jealous of)… Meet Kevin O’Gara, the brilliant mind behind Thou Swell, “a visual compilation of contemporary interiors, great products, interesting design and other bits and pieces…” I immediately fell for Kevin’s consistent style. With a blog so beautifully curated and written with such eloquence, you’d never guess he was only 16!!
“I am a student and blogger and love it because I am always learning new things.
I am inspired by designers and bloggers who have strayed off the beaten trail, and created a name for themselves through original and unexpected design.
To me, design means the union of form and function.
The one creative tool/resource I couldn’t live without is Pinterest (it’s just chock full of great inspiration).
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I’d go to Istanbul, it’s rich history makes it a cultural capital of the Western world.
Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of Bossa Nova (Brazilian jazz – it’s so soothing)!
If I had to leave you with one bit of advice, in regards to living a creative life, it would be to ‘fill your vessel’ (as my mother would say) with inspiration and work you admire. It helps to fuel your creative pursuits!”
I can’t even tell you how happy I am to see that Kevin also believes in what I consider to be the true definition of design: the union of form and function. The advice given via mama O’Gara is also inspiring and so very true. I told Kevin that he has a bright, creative future ahead of him and I’m sure you’ll agree. Just keep doing what you’re doing!
p.s. I’m actually listening to a little Bossa Nova even as we speak – it’s exactly what my library needed.
Thanks again for the enlightenment, Kevin :)
