maggie waller : type & title

I’d like to introduce you to my sweet new friend, Maggie Waller, the creative spirit behind Type & Title who inspires me to no end. She is a natural, a true artisan with a passion for typography and of course, the handwritten note. It was Maggie’s lovely lettering that first caught my attention. I found her pretty blog, then got hooked on her instagram feed. Finally, I reached out and asked if she would consider addressing my wedding envelopes for me. And when she responded with the sweetest email ever, I knew working with Maggie would be a walk in the park :)

Here are a few words from the creative lady herself:

“I am a designer & letterer and love it because I get to create beauty out of the ordinary.

I am inspired by nature, old things, and stories.

To me, design means communication.

The one creative tool/resource I couldn’t live without is pen & paper.

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I’d go to Scandinavia — especially Norway to see the fjords. The landscape seems absolutely unreal!

Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of sister bands: First Aid Kit, Haim, The Staves, Joseph. I’ve been chatting with my sis a lot lately and I think this signals some sort of unrealized life dream.

If I had to leave you with one bit of advice, in regards to living a creative life, it would be to take care of yourself. Get a good night’s sleep, take deep breaths, go for a walk. Feel every bit of your life to the fullest. Let your thoughts wander. Creative people put so much of themselves into what they do — being good to yourself will allow you to put forth your best work.”

Maggie’s appreciation for nature is so clear in her design style and I love that about her, along with the fact that pen & paper are her life lines :) But that last bit of advice is exactly what I needed to hear today (and maybe every day for the last six months). So often I find myself getting carried away with projects or simply taking on too much at once, that I forget to relax and just let my mind rest… I really need to start making sleep a priority!

Thank you so much for the inspiration, Maggie! And thanks again for adding the prettiest final touches to my wedding invitations. Everybody loves them!
